The weather was perfect for a tough Kings Valley R.R. Our Masters
40/50 field was huge! It was difficult to move up to the front for
most of the race. The field seemed to attack on all the hills.Lots of
surges throughout.Tried to stay protected first two laps from the
wind.On the last lap moved to near the front for the finale. On the
final hill to the finish the field was bunched up pretty tight.I guess
everyone was waiting for someone to go.Mark M. was the only one who
created a gap at the finish.I got caught up in the pack and couldn’t
launch my sprint when needed.Got to remember in this case the front or
right side is better for breaking free! “Easier said than done!”

Kings Valley was a good race for me this year. After 75 miles at an average pace of 24.5 mph, the field managed to keep most everyone together. Team Oregon, HPC Chiro and Therapeutic Assoc were the dominant teams with the most riders. There were several break attempts throughout the race with three men staying off the front on the last lap to take the podium spots.
