2025 OBRA Cross Country Mountain Bike State Championship

Registration
Course Description

The Silver Falls XC Mountain Bike Race features a course that takes racers out 1.2 miles on the Howard Creek Loop, up Smith Creek Trail, Buck Mountain Loop and Lost Creek Trail before reaching the top of the featured trail, the Catamount.  After descending the Catamount Trail racers will then go down Rabbit Hole at which point short course racers will head back to the start/finish area via Howard Creek Loop and medium and long course racers will head back up Smith Creek Trail for one and two more laps, respectively, before they too head to the finish via Howard Creek Loop. Please note that this is an occupied open to the public State Park trail system. You may encounter hikers, runners and other non-race riders on the course. Please observe trail etiquette and be respectful.

All categories approved and developed in partnership with OBRA.

All racers will receive a custom race plate courtesy of Scotts Cycle, Salem Oregon.

No chip timing. Category finishes will manually be counted by OBRA Officials

Camping/Loging

Camping = Silver Falls Campground is closed for upgrades until July 1st.                     Silverton does have a campground and others in the vicinity can be located online.       No onsite venue camping allowed. 

Motels = Nearby Silverton has a couple of options and Salem has multiple options.

Location

On Hwy 214 Follow Signs to Overnight Camping, follow approximately 0.7 and turn left towards horse camps, 0.10 turn left into the Howard Creek parking area, follow signage to race parking.

 On Google Maps, the start area is marked "Buck Mountain Trail".

Each car will need to have an Oregon State Parks pass displayed, these must be provided by individuals and are not part of the registration fees. 

Overflow parking will be at the South Falls Day Use Area, approximately 1.4 miles from the start/finish staging area.

Parking is limited, please respect and be kind to our parking volunteers, they are doing their best to fit everyone at the venue.

Schedule
Saturday May 17th 2025

8:30AM to 10:30AM = Onsite registration and preregistration number pickup

11:00AM = Long course (3 lap) stage and start

11:10AM = Medium course (2 lap) stage and start

11:20AM = Short course (1 lap) stage and start

1:30 (ish) = Awards

Awards

OBRA will provide podium medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each category with a championship jersey awarded to the top finisher in each category

 

​Silver Falls XC/Capitol Velo will pay out the following cash prizes to the top 3 men and women finishers of the long course. 

1st = $300

2nd = $200

3rd = $100

Pre-Ride

The course will be 95% laid out and marked by 3PM on Friday May, 16th. If you wish to ride the course, please watch for setup volunteers and hikers. Another option is to download the course from Trail Forks.

Volunteer

Salem Area Trail Alliance:

A portion of race proceeds will be donated to the Salem Area Trail Alliance (SATA), as this race wouldn’t be possible without dedication and efforts SATA puts into building and maintaining the trail network within the park.  For more information about SATA, please click the link below.
